On the next episode of Tristin and Tyler’s Tales from the City! get ready to meet Sarah Kauss of S’well Bottle!  S’well sells ahhmazing reusable water bottles. What we noticed immediately about Sarah is her strong passion for what she is doing to help the environment which is truly admirable.  Sarah is an inspiration to kids and entrepreneurs everywhere!

Sarah, Tristin and Tyler

This was one of the best episodes we’ve ever shot. We had issues with finding a location and the weather, and how did Sarah handle it all? She just rolled with the punches the entire way! Now that’s what I call cool, especially when your dealing with two 7 yr olds, a crazy producer-mom and her husband! Truly, the boys did NOT stop talking about how much they liked her for days!

Tristin interviewing Sarah

Not only do S’well Bottles keep your beverages cold for 24 HOURS (!!!), S’well Bottle donates 10% of all its sales to help build safe and hygienic water sources in Africa and India through a partnership with WaterAid.  If you’re thinking of purchasing a water bottle, does it get any better than S’well?

Oh, but wait, S’well gets even better! S’well has just launched a larger version of its bottle that can keep an ENTIRE bottle of wine cold, yes, WINE ladies!

I have the pink one, and I LUV it!

The best part about this episode is learning from Sarah and listening to her explain to the boys why reusable water bottles are important. Sarah also made us realize how lucky we are in New York City to have great tap water. We can just fill’er up and GO! And we all know that is not the case for many people around the world.  Sometimes you have to step back and put things in perspective. Sarah did that for us.

Do you use reusable water bottles? Are they as cool as S’well bottles? TALK TO ME!

One of the best parts about writing this blog and producing Tristin and Tyler’s Tales from the City! is meeting fab mom bloggers all over the world!  One of my favorite eco-friendly mamas is Lynn Stone of Funtastically Green!  She has asked some of her fellow Green Galz to participate in a cool game to find out all about us! So want to know more about muah? HERE WE GO!

1. Who are you? Give us the goods girls – we really want to  know all about those skeletons in the closet.

I’m mother to Tristin and Tyler the best twins EVA, wife to a super handsome busy man, lawyer, eco chick and I LIVE to edit and produce fun videos featuring fun kiddies! From fashion to crafts, I love to see kids use their creativity to express themselves!

2. If there was one thing on the planet that you could protect or change, what would it be?

If I could, I would  protect future generations by ensuring that EVERYONE has access to clean drinking water.  Water should not be a luxury.

3. What’s your WORST green habit?

Not donating my electronics. I pile them up ready to give away, and it just never happens!

4. Which eco-guy is cuter? Leo Dicaprio, Woody Harrelson, Surf or Matt Damon

Uhh, Leo in TITANIC!

5. What’s your fav healthy food? Least fav?

I love pretty much every fruit, so fruit is my healthy fave. Least fave? VEGGIES!

6. If you could adopt an animal from WWF, what would it be? Why?

I’ve always loved pandas and have never seen one in person, so I guess that would be the animal.

I hope “adopt” means “provide resources for,” not bring it home!

7. If you could have any house, anywhere – where would you live?

Hmm, I think on a beach somewhere. Would love to see my three boys (including my hubby), frolicking somewhere in the sand!

8. Is bigger better? (A house that is girls! Shame on you *snickering*) Would you rather have a small house or a big house? Why?

I am a super, city girl. Never had a house, nor would I know what to do with one. So, if I had a choice, I would have a small house so that I don’t get too overwhelmed. It’s also a great way to save resources like water and energy.

Now you know a little more about little old me! Any surprises? Lynn: How did I do??

Yup, it’s Friday!  Friday is my day to  highlight cool brands sportin’ eco practices for kiddies!  I am super excited about featuring MINI & MAXIMUS today because:

1) they just came out with their “Imperfectly Perfect” Fall/Holiday 2011 line which is AHHDORABLE!  AND

2) I just featured one of their cool tees in a Fall Fashion Film I produced featuring Tristin, Tyler and their gorgeous friend Brianna.  Stay Tuned for that!

I love any brand that supports kids. Whether the support comes from encouraging kiddie creativity or kiddie spontaneity, I’ll take it!  When you visit their site, make sure to check out their t-shirt designs for kids, by kids!

Well, you know by now that Tristin, Tyler and I try our best to help the environment in all that we do, so we love that by supporting MINI & MAXIMUS we are supporting a company that loves the earth just as much as we do!  They make their clothing out of a “unique blend of super soft bamboo/cotton, 100% organic cotton, or a modal/cotton blend.”  They also “use recycled paper and water-based inks for all of our posters.”

And to top it all off, the line is BEYOND CUTE!!

Tristin and Tyler love to go to NYC events and interview people making a difference! So a new feature for them is KWIK KLIPS! Short videos on cool NYC Events perfect for kiddies!

So, on a beautiful Saturday in Tompkins Square Park, the boys headed out to support an AWESOME fundraiser called The Day of A Thousand Cranes Event!  This event was put together by the fabulous Kira Saltzman and Julia Samersova of Planet Awesome Kid.

Kira, Tristin and Tyler

What a great event indeed. Paper crane making, free yoga with Karma Kids Yoga (episode with Karma Kids coming soon by the way), cool break-dancing and live music. Tristin and Tyler donated $1.00 per each crane they folded in order to grant a wish for a child in need.  How AWESOME is that?

Tristin and his favorite crane.

“Due to the recent events in Fukushima, 45% of the children there are testing positive for radioactive thyroid glands. Through Day of A Thousand Cranes we hope to make wishes come true for children here in our local neighborhoods of New York and across the world in Japan by supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s NYC Metro Area and Japan chapters.”

Tyler interviewing Kira

So enjoy The Day of A Thousand Cranes KWIK KLIP! coming up tomorrow, and if you know of any other fun NYC events for a good cause, or events that are just plain fun for kiddies! Let us know about it!

Later Gators!

I am very happy to write this post in support of one of my favorite educational companies Kids Think Big.  I am a HUGE fan of this company, its founder Jeanine Behr Getz and its mission to “educate, entertain and empower kids to think big and act green at every age.”

Tyler, Jeanine and Tristin

Why I’m a Fan

In addition to having written and self-published the children’s book Think Green! which inspires children to take small steps to help the earth everyday, Kids Think Big is embarking on an initiative to bring Think Green! to schools and libraries nationwide! So while Tristin and Tyler’s series informs kids and parents about eco-initiatives in New York City, Kids Think Big is working to bring environmental literacy to kids everywhere! Love it!!

How Can You Help and Win?

We are giving away two copies of Think Green! Want to win a copy and help the initiative at the same time?

1. Tell us what company or organization could financially, or otherwise, support bringing Think Green! to schools nationwide by emailing me at tiffany@tristinandtyler.com

2. “Like” Kids Think Big On Facebook

3. “Like” Tristin and Tyler on Facebook

4. Share this blog post on Facebook, Twitter or your blog

Take these four steps, leave me a comment below to let me know that you did, and you are entered to win!

We will randomly select and announce the winner on Monday, August 22, 2011. So Hurry!!

Let’s support this initiative, because yes, kids do think BIG but let’s help them think GLOBAL!

For more information, please visit www.kidsthinkbig.com and if you haven’t already, check out Tristin and Tyler making reusable napkins and interviewing Jeanine here!

The boys checking out CDs to be recycled!

No need to toss that potato chip bag, juice box or candy wrapper! Send it to TerraCycle! They can turn those items into backpacks, notebooks and other useful products.  They are literally “eliminating the idea of waste,” just as their tag-line says.

There is so much good, green eco-friendly fun at TerraCycle that we have  TWO episodes for ya! One episode this week and one next week! We can’t wait to share it with you! STAY TUNED!
